Eye Core Films’ “Mero Euta Saathi Chha” has yet again challenged the Nepali film industry, which has never thought beyond Rajesh Hamal, and from those stereotyped emotional dramas, or those boring fight sequences in Chobhar and dance numbers around the Kurintar riverbanks. From cast to crew, almost everyone is new to the mainstream film business in “Mero Euta Saathi Chha.” Not that they are completely new names in showbiz, but they haven’t worked much for mainstream cinemas as defined by the celluloid world of Nepal.
After captivating the audiences through her charming personality and unique acting skills in “Sano Sansar”, Namrata Shrestha plays the lead role in “Mero Euta Saathi Chha.” Former Mr Nepal Jeevan Luitel, who also gave his share in “Sano Sansar” in a cameo role, is also one of the prime characters in this movie, while Aryan Sigdel, who was hugely acclaimed for his expressions and dialogue delivery in Rekha Thapa’s “Kismat”, is also in the lead role. For those who have only seen Sigdel doing romantic characters, the movie will surprise them, promises the actor himself. Even beauty queen Zenisha Moktan, who once said she doesn’t see herself in commercial cinema, has a special appearance in the film.

Shot in 2K camera, the same equipment used in “Kagbeni” and “Sano Sansar,” “Mero Euta Saathi Chha” will be released in late August. After a year of production, the movie won’t follow the queue system. With that provision, it won’t get screening dates at the Bishwa Jyoti Cinema
and Ganga Hall but will be allowed to screen at other cinema halls of both Kathmandu and outside.
For director Sudarshan Thapa, “Mero Euta Saathi Chha” is career starter because this is his debut venture. After directing “House Full,” the popular tele-serial of Kantipur TV, he immediately thought of making a celluloid movie. The risk factor is more for him in this movie. When new directors cast senior actors for safe landing, Thapa has worked with aspiring actors.
“It’s not the names that you work with; it’s the presentation of a film that appeals to people. Yes, I’ve taken risks because I haven’t started my career with Rajesh Hamal and Rekha Thapa. For me, they weren’t suitable. Namrata, Aryan and Jeevan were the best choices,”
enunciated Thapa.
This movie is also a must see because there are no Basanta Shrestha and Rajendra Khadgi involved for choreography. Again, the production team has dared providing a chance to promising Renesa Rai to choreograph dances, and Anil Rai for the action scenes. Another bonus is its soundtrack. Pop singer Sugam Pokharel has not just sung the playback but also has looked after the music arrangement. He is accompanied by music composer Bipin Acharya.
For story, the film is about how it’s easy to befriend someone but it takes a lot of struggle to maintain a healthy friendship all your life. Perhaps the releasing time justifies for many will continue celebrating August as friendship month.
